AF3IRM Art Exhibition | Recuerdo / Alaala / ذاكرة / Remembrance: Earrings of Shadow and Light

Join the Los Angeles chapter of AF3IRM for the opening of our new traveling art exhibition "Recuerdo / Alaala / ذاكرة / Remembrance: Earrings of Shadow and Light"!Recuerdo / Alaala / ذاكرة / Remembrance: Earrings of Shadow and LightOpening Friday, April 15th6:30pm977 1/2 Chung King RoadLos Angeles, CA 90012Recuerdo Art ExhibitionThis exhibition is a tribute to all the missing, murdered, and trafficked women and girls around the world and features works from various artists, jewelry makers, and musicians. Participants were asked to create a single earring dedicated to a particular woman or issue. We asked for one earring - not a pair of earrings - to not only honor women and our histories and experiences but to remember those whose stories have gone unheard, whose lives have been taken, and whose voices have been erased. We seek to honor women, not just with the story told through the earring shown, but also in presenting the void within the incomplete pair. It is through this illumination not just of the earring displayed, but of the loss portrayed that we bear witness to all of our sisters.Stay tuned to this page for more information on the participants and exhibition viewing times, as well as events being held during its run. Future exhibition showings, including one in New York, will be announced. The flyer for exhibition features art by AF3IRM LA's Iris Boncales-Strauss and the flyer itself was designed by Barbra Ramos. For more info, contact: losangeles@af3irm.orgFor media inquiries, contact: af3irm@af3irm.org
