AF3IRM Atlanta October 5 Banner Drop Statement

Contact: AF3IRM Atlanta || atlanta@af3irm.org

Today, we take a moment to acknowledge that true liberation will not be achieved under a government that continues the exploitation and commodification of women. Public health approaches in understanding sexploitation are necessary to understand how upstream factors, such as domestic violence, poverty, and immigration status, relegate women to unsafe and unfair labor practices that increase their susceptibility to Covid-19, HIV, violence, and overall stigma.

In completing the banner drop on the Atlanta Beltline, we purposefully seek to call attention to sexploitation occurring in this city and take a moment to remember the murders of the Asian women that occurred six months ago in the Atlanta Spa Shooting. This, along with the recent increase in murders of women in Atlanta, reminds us of the urgency to call out the objectification and commodification of women.

No Liberation under Sexploitation!!
