LOS ANGELES — Mothers and their children who have been walking from the Bay Area to the US/Mexico border arrive in Boyle Heights on August 12th. These women and children are making the journey of more than 300 miles for A Trail for Humanity to shed light on the human rights violations being perpetrated at the US/Mexico border and the US policies that uphold these practices. The latest news shows that the US government is shutting down housing for immigrant and refugee children at the border, leaving 7,700 Honduran, Salvadoran, and Guatemalan children facing homelessness and deportation.

AF3IRM, Espacio 1839 and allied organizations like the People’s Education Movement and Kabataang maka-Bayan (KmB Pro-People Youth) will be hosting an event to welcome A Trail For Humanity to Los Angeles. The event, entitled “From Honduras to Palestine: All Women and Children Deserve Dignity” will be a night of educational discussion, cultural resistance, media, and community building. The event will look at the global plight of women and children, linking the US-backed violations occurring in Palestine to the situation of women and children fleeing Central America. All allies, families, community members and justice-loving people are welcome to attend.
